Class 9

This week Bob Patton will drop in to talk about ITc Portfolios and other things.

We will have our exam prep session.

I think I have some interesting stuff this week. Please bring your questions to class.

Remember: The Stritch server, where my files are kept, will not let you download a .java file so I have added .txt to each one. When you see the .java.txt file that you want, just right click and save as without the .txt.

I know that I keep promising but tonight we will look at [ALICE] and possibley [SCRATCH] -- essentially programming language simulators or object oriented worlds. Interesting stuff. Worth the time spent downloading and looking at. They are available in leading platforms.

Sally Ride Tech-Tune UP

-- Harambee Community School
Welcome to this Tech Tune-Up Workshop!

Here is a place to get files that you can use as part of this workshop.

  1. School Supply List -- or type it in yourself.
  2. harambee text file. -- a text file that you can use instead of typing in a lot of text.
  3. quiz.txt -- needed in the form making section.

Here are websites that I am sure to mention:

  • Snag-it -- for creating screenshots.
  • Word Templates -- from Microsoft
  • PDF files of workshop handouts -- Feel free to use these but don't change them. I'd also like credit for them.

My personal Websites:

  • Road Runner - http://home.wi.rr.com/johnsklar

  • Need to contact me? Best way is by email:

    - jsklar@wi.rr.com

    • The files from Class 3 are at: [LINK]
    • Here is a file that you will need Wednesday. Right click on the link and save the file without the .txt extension. You may also just click on the link and cut and paste the text right into jGrasp. [LINK]
    • The rest of the Class 4 files are here: [LINK]
    • Sorry for my tardiness.

    Office Lesson Plans:

Searching for lesson plans on the web is pretty easy. Just use Google-advanced search. Put Lesson plan in the exact phrase box and Excel in the include box. You will find a treasure trove of plans that will make teaching easier and more productive.

Here is a short list of sites that have lesson plans using Excel:

    Office Applications Online - Free

There are office-type applications available online some are quite useful. Give them a try.

    Open Source Office - Free

Open Office is a free office clone that works and is easy to use. It is quite compatible with Office 2003.
