I love the writing. Kiley Reid writes a serious, thoughtful story in a light and energetic way. The details and language mask the seriousness of the issues this book deals with. I was sad through the whole book because of the way overt racisim was just a part of the life of these young people. I think I have learned things that I never much thought about before and I want to be careful here not to detail any of this fine book. I want you to read it, absorb it and see what effect it can have on you.
